💙 Trauma-Assumed ABA

Our ABA team is trained in trauma-assumed practices, ensuring every session is built on a foundation of safety, trust, and empowerment. We understand that many children have experienced challenging circumstances, and our approach prioritizes the child's emotional wellbeing above all else.

What this looks like in practice:

  • Emotional safety — creating a calm, predictable environment where your child feels secure
  • Choice and autonomy — giving children a voice in their sessions whenever possible
  • Relationship-first — building genuine connections before introducing goals
  • Compassionate redirection — understanding the why behind behaviors, not just the behavior itself

This approach is endorsed by leading voices in the field and reflects our belief that effective therapy starts with trust.

🤝 Social Skills & Communication

Building meaningful connections with others is one of the most important things ABA therapy can support. We use a blend of structured and natural, play-based teaching approaches to help children develop:

  • Functional communication — expressing needs, wants, and feelings using words, signs, or AAC devices
  • Peer interaction — turn-taking, sharing, cooperative play, and conversation skills
  • Social awareness — reading facial expressions, understanding personal space, and responding to social cues
  • Joint attention — the ability to share focus on an activity or object with another person

We practice these skills in real-life settings — at the park, during play dates, and in group activities — so your child can generalize what they learn.

🌟 Daily Living & Independence

A core goal of ABA therapy is helping children become more independent in their daily lives. We work on the practical skills that make a real difference for your child and your family:

  • Self-care routines — brushing teeth, getting dressed, using the bathroom
  • Mealtime skills — sitting at the table, using utensils, trying new foods
  • Safety awareness — understanding boundaries, following safety rules in the community
  • Transition skills — moving between activities, environments, or caregivers with less stress
  • School readiness — sitting in a group, following directions, waiting, and raising a hand

We break complex skills into manageable steps and celebrate every milestone along the way.

🎒 School Readiness Program

Starting school is a major milestone — and our School Readiness Program is designed to make sure your child walks into the classroom with confidence. We work on the foundational skills that set children up for success in a structured learning environment, bridging the gap between therapy and the school setting.

Our program focuses on:

  • Classroom routines — sitting in a group, raising a hand, following multi-step directions, and transitioning between activities
  • Pre-academic skills — letter and number recognition, following along with group instruction, and completing structured tasks independently
  • Peer interaction — sharing materials, taking turns, joining group play, and navigating social situations with classmates
  • Self-regulation — managing frustration, waiting patiently, coping with unexpected changes, and asking for help appropriately
  • Self-care independence — managing a backpack, opening lunch containers, using the bathroom independently, and dressing for recess

We collaborate with families and school teams to create a smooth transition plan, and many of our kiddos go on to thrive in general education, inclusive, or supported classroom settings.

Common Questions

How do I know if my child could benefit from ABA therapy?

If you have concerns about your child's behavior, communication, or social skills, ABA may be a great fit. It is highly effective for children with developmental delays, behavioral challenges, or an autism diagnosis. Try our free Little Leaps Milestone Tool for a quick developmental snapshot, and schedule a free screening or call us for a no-cost consult to discuss your child's needs.

What does a typical ABA session look like?

Your child works one-on-one with a trained behavior technician under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Sessions blend structured learning activities with play-based, natural environment teaching — always following your child's interests and pace.

How will I know my child is making progress?

Your BCBA will provide regular progress reports and meet with you to review data and goals. We track specific, measurable objectives so you can see exactly how your child is growing. You'll also notice changes at home — improved communication, smoother routines, and more independence.

How many hours per week does my child need?

ABA intensity varies by child. Some children benefit from a few hours per week focused on specific skills, while others thrive with more intensive programs. Your BCBA will recommend a schedule based on your child's evaluation and adjust as they progress.
